I didn't find any reviews for this product on the internet, so I'm going to go ahead and help the next guy out and leave one here. We purchased this unit through our AC guy, so we would be sure to have the warranty honored. We worked with our AC guy on a previous unit (a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim) we purchased on the internet. He purchased the unit for us, and let us do most of the installation, saving us several hundred dollars on installation cost. Then when it was installed, we called him out to vacuum/hook-up the line set. The differences I see on this one is that the remote has a few more options and is a little clearer to use. Also, the LG unit seems to move its directional fin a little more. Maybe that is the little bit of extra noise. This LG unit offers heating only mode, cooling only mode, dehumidifying mode, and a mode that will either cool or heat depending on the temperature you want it (if you live in an area with cold nights and hot days). It also has some cleaning functions, but I haven't figured out what those do. You still have to physically remove the filter and wash it out to clean it. One complaint I keep seeing for these mini-splits is that they don't come with all the things you need to complete the installation. This unit doesn't come with any of this stuff either, so if you are thinking you will get the unit and just install it and plug it you need to do a little more research. This unit is only an indoor unit, an outdoor unit (compressor) and a remote control. They sell it separately from the rest of the stuff because the amount of lines and cords you need will depend on where you will install the unit in the house. The items you will need to purchase separately include: a copper tubing line-set, a 4-wire electric cord, a drain hose, and wiring to go to your fuse box. The sizes of these lines will be found in the instruction manual, and you can find that pretty easily on line. I remember this unit requires only an 18/4 wire between the units, and only a 14/2 (not including ground) to go to the 220 connection in the fuse box. All these different brands and units seem to be a little different, so read up. Depending on the requirements of your state you may also need an outdoor cut-off box and whip kit.
Its only been a few days, but so far this unit is working flawlessly. Its a little noisier than our Mitsubishi unit, but still very quiet, as is the outdoor unit. With 26 SEER I can't wait to see the electric bill this summer. Hopefully will update this in a few months when we have used it for a while. - Customer Reviews
